The California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc. (CA4WDC) recognizes the important role played by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in caring for our Nation's Public Lands, while the BLM recognizes four-wheeling as a legitimate use of Public Lands. CA4WDC acknowledges BLM's mission to emphasize multiple use of public lands and its desire to promote resource-based recreational activities on public lands in the future. Because of the value of BLM-managed land and trails for four-wheelers, CA4WDC agrees to enter into this Golden Anniversary Partnership with BLM to designate the following trail systems as outstanding multiple use trails on BLM lands:
Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area Trail System, California
The Bradshaw Trail, California
The Volcanic Table Lands, California
The Molina Ghost Run Trail, California
The exceptional trails on BLM land highlighted by this Golden Anniversary Partnership meet the following criteria: they are of interest to four-wheelers of varying skills; and they provide opportunities for four-wheel drivers to stop along their route to explore and study important cultural and natural resources.
For this Golden Anniversary Partnership, CA4WDC agrees to promote these special trails through its communication network and will encourage four-wheelers to support environmentally sound and socially responsible trail use.
In return, BLM agrees to: identify these trails as outstanding four-wheel drive opportunities, work with CA4WDC to identify additional four-wheel drive opportunities on BLM land; and to assist in providing educational materials about the value of these resources and responsible use.
CA4WDC and BLM agree to jointly collaborate with local and regional agencies to identify trails for four-wheel drive use while protecting significant cultural and natural resources.
Agreed to and signed on this August 18, 1996:
