AMERICAN MOTORCYCLIST ASSOCIATION

BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT

GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY PARTNERSHIP

"Discovering Public Land Treasures by Off-Highway Motorcycle"

In recognition of the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) mission to emphasize multiple-use of our Nation's public lands and its desire to promote resource-based recreational activity, including off-highway motorcycle riding, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) joins with BLM in this Golden Anniversary Partnership to designate the following trail systems as outstanding multiple-use trails on lands managed by BLM:

Cow Mountain Off-Highway Vehicle Area Trail System, California;

Red Elephant Mine Trail, California;

Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area Trail, California;

Chappie-Shasta Off-Highway Vehicle Area Trail System, California.

The trails managed by BLM highlighted by this Golden Anniversary Partnership meet the following criteria: they are of exceptional quality and interest to motorcyclists of varying skills and they provide long-distance riding opportunities connecting people and resources through exploration.

As a partner in this Golden Anniversary Partnership, AMA agrees to promote these special trails and trail systems through its communication network and will encourage riders to support environmentally sound and socially responsible trail use.

BLM, as a partner, will identify these trails and trail systems as outstanding motorcycling opportunities, will work with AMA to identify additional riding opportunities on lands under its stewardship, and will assist in providing educational materials about the value and responsible use of these resources.

The AMA and BLM agree to collaborate with local and regional agencies to identify trails for recreational riding while respecting significant cultural and natural resources.

Agreed to and signed on this July 18, 1996:

BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT
