Secretary Kempthorne was in Oregon yesterday visiting a recreation vehicle factory and swearing his continuing fealty to the motorhome industry with which he has long been extraordinarily close. I've appended a press release from that visit which today is prominently featured upon the American Recreation Coalition's homepage.
As you read the this, you'll notice a general reference to "luxury" motorcoaches in the National Parks and a specific reference to the "Country Coach Prevost".
If that name doesn't mean anything to you, you might to take a moment to learn a little something about the vehicle, and the people, for whom America's National Parks are being reconfigured -- www.countrycoach.com .
I have no idea what a new Prevost sells for, but I found a used 2005 model advertised for $1,158,952. www.rvregistry.com/used-rv/6642.htm.
Mind you, that was only a 40 footer. Top of the line 45 footers probably cost a bit more.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne Visits Motorcoach Manufacturer Country Coach, Inc.
July 13, 2006, Junction City, Oregon -Country Coach, Inc. (CCI), a
highline motorcoach manufacturer celebrating 33 years in the recreation
vehicle industry, today hosted a visit from U.S. Secretary of the
Interior Dirk Kempthorne. Secretary Kempthorne arrived with his staff
with the start of Country Coach's first manufacturing shift at 7:00am
PDT, visited with Company President Jay Howard, and joined in an
extensive tour of the process of building and testing a luxury diesel
motorcoach. On completion of the tour, the Secretary took time to tour
some completed motorcoaches, and decided his favorite of the coaches on
hand was the 2007 Allure 400 Series, featuring the 42' Siskiyou Summit
floorplan.
Country Coach President Jay Howard welcomed Secretary Kempthorne, and
personally conducted the facility tour. "Visiting with the Secretary, I
was pleased at his knowledge of and enthusiasm for our luxury
motorcoaches, and for the recreational vehicle industry as a whole,"
stated Mr. Howard. "It should be encouraging for our industry peers, as
well as our motorcoach owners, to see an official at such a high level
of our federal government recognize the value in the recreation
experience we deliver."
Mr. Howard also noted Secretary Kempthorne's passion for ensuring that
efforts continue to further accommodate motorcoaches and other RV's in
our National Parks. "Our customers and Secretary Kempthorne obviously
hold in common their love of the outdoors, and of our great land. He is
a motorcoach owner himself, and shared with me his interest in
balancing accessibility with the purity of our National Park
experience."
Country Coach manufactures highline motorcoaches in lengths ranging
from 34 to 45 feet. These 102-inch wide-body diesel pusher engine
luxury coaches include the Inspire, Allure, Intrigue, Magna, Affinity,
and Country Coach Prevost
Conversion. For more information on the company and its motorcoaches,
please contact Matt Howard, Senior Director of Marketing and Public
Relations, at 800-654-0223, or 541-953-5754 (mobile). You may learn
more about Country Coach, Inc. on line at www.countrycoach.com. Country
Coach, Inc. and its sister company National RV are subsidiaries of
