Does the Busch Beer/Conservation Fund PARTNERSHIP (see below) represent a meaningful conservation effort, or is it yet another example of Shameless Greenscamming?
It's so predictable which organizations are becoming the Voice of the Environmental Community. It's the groups who are represented on President Bush's (Busch's?) Interior Transition Team.
It's groups such as The Conservation Fund, Political Economy Research Center and National Parks Conservation Association.
It's shameless.

ST. LOUIS (March 30, 2001) -- Anheuser-Busch, Inc., today announced
details for "BUSCH Beer Outdoors Photo Contest," a national contest
combining the efforts of BUSCH beer and The Conservation Fund - an
organization working to protect the nation's land and water resources.
The contest, which will run April 1 - June 1, invites consumers to
support land conservation activities by taking photographs of local
mountain ranges and forests.
"This contest is a great opportunity to promote the beauty of local
mountain ranges and forests, as well as a chance for our consumers to
learn about conservation efforts taking place in their community," said
Bob Franceschelli, director, BUSCH brand, Anheuser-Busch, Inc.
"Partnering with The Conservation Fund in this promotion is a perfect
opportunity to demonstrate our continued commitment to protecting the
environment and our country's land resources."
Consumers, 21 years of age and older, can photograph designated local
mountain ranges and forests (see attached listing). One photograph
judged as best portraying each area may be developed into an outdoor
billboard.
In addition, Busch will award $1,500 to each winning photographer along
with a matching donation to The Conservation Fund for local land
preservation initiatives. Overall, Anheuser-Busch will award nearly
$100,000 to The Conservation Fund and winning consumers during the
"BUSCH Beer Outdoors" photo contest.
BUSCH Beer Partners With The Conservation Fund
"Our nation's outdoor heritage is a legacy benefiting wildlife and
future generations. The Conservation Fund is pleased to partner with
Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. and BUSCH beer to encourage local land
conservation initiatives that protect forest land and river corridors
and provide outdoor recreation opportunities," said John F. Turner,
President of The Conservation Fund.
